My Ancestors

OK, This information was checked out as best I could and is accurate to the best of my capabilities. I do thank everyone who supplied information, especially Fred Corwin. His grandmother (Grace Hamlin) was my grandfather's (William B. Hamlin Jr.) Sister. Their father (William B. Hamlin Sr.) Spent several winters in Puyallup, Washington with Grace and family. This was after His wife (Eva) had past away. I had never seen a picture of my great grandparents until a few years ago Fred sent me some pictures of them and copies of some letters to Grace from my grandparents. Fred also has a copy of the book, History of Hyde County South Dakota, written in 1908 which has some information on our family. In the past year (2008) I aquired a copy of this book on Ebay and also a copy that was put on a CD. I will eventually share some of this information on this website with everyone.

I remember my Grandfather very well but, grandmother pastaway before I was born.
I was 4 and a half when he died but I remember so many times I helped him carry the
pail of drinking water from the well. He had a Collie dog named Shep. He had been very sick
for a few years and I used to stay home with him on Sunday when everyone else went to church.
He homesteaded the quarter our home was on and had the house built about 1921. He used to raise
registerd Hereford Bulls. Also he had been a County Commissioner for several years and was very well
respected in the county.
Wallace B. Hamlin Born 1905 Died 1988 Married Elsie Samp Born 1905 Died 1995
Of course this was my parents.
My dad's youngest sister was born June 12, 1926, Dad's mother past away the following January,
Dad and Mom with my 3 month old brother moved in to take care of all my dad's siblings.
I was ten before I figured out who everyone was. Thankfully Gampa had built a big house.
Even then I remember Grampa had to sleep on a fold out daveno in the livingroom and I had to
sit and scratch the bottom of his feet untill he went to sleep while everyone else sat in the
dining room listening to the radio when it worked.
