This is the Pacific Ocean at Long Beach, Washington. Long Beach is on
the Long Beach peninsula on the south west corner of Washington state. There is 28 miles of sandy beach here, which is the longest in the
world. The structure in the center of the picture is The Boardwalk.
This was constructed by volunteers from Long Beach several years ago.
It is about a half mile long and is a great place for us old people
to walk. We live about 8 miles north of this and 1 mile to the east.
To see where this picture originated go to Clam Cam

From 1969 to 1998 we lived near BattleGround, Washington
which is on the other side of Mount St. Helens about 35
miles south. To see this pictures origin visit Mt. St. Helens. --I captured this picture about 11:30 AM Jan 26, 2001.

Welcome to my family. I started this as a tribute to my great grandfather who fought for the Union in the civil war in 1861 to 1865. So, I think maybe a list of links to other pages would be the best way to set this up. I have this same stuff on my other web site (www.lhamlin.8k.com) that I started a year ago. I will eventually get time to kind of sort out things and use a better format here, I hope!
The next are links to other good stuff, not family.
- PENINSULA CALENDAR OF EVENTS
- THE OLD HIGHMORE HIGH SCHOOL WAS TORN DOWN JUNE 4, 2001.

- This is our weekly newspaper, check it out. chinookobserver
- In the spring and summer of 1952 I worked about 30 miles from Hot Springs, SD. We spent alot of our time off at this swimming hole. It wasn't anything like this back then !
- This will get you the TIDE TABLES for Astoria, Oregon which is just south across the Columbia River from our peninsula. High tide is not a good time to drive on the beach and for those who don't already know, If you only have two wheel drive, stay on the WET sand, especially in dry weather. If you have to drive some on the dry sand, don't stop. Also, during low tide, do NOT drive on the clam beds. That means when driving on the wet sand stay close to the dry sand and not close to the water. The county mounties do patrol the beach and will give tickets for this. The beach is considered a state highway and all other rules apply also, including a 25 MPH speed limit.
